LaPrairie provides both water and sanitary sewer service throughout most of the community.

The city buys water from the Grand Rapids Public Utilities Commission (GRPUC) as a wholesale customer and then resells it to the LaPrairie residents and businesses.  Similarly, LaPrairie is a wholesale customer of GRPUC for sanitary sewer service.

Electric power is provided directly to LaPrairie customers by GRPUC, who, in turn, is a wholesale customer of Minnesota Power.
